The highlights of the Cíes Islands that you can’t miss!
The Cíes Islands are one of the most visited tourist destinations in Galicia. Request authorisation and buy your ticket here.
A natural paradise in the Vigo estuary, the Islands are part of the maritime-terrestrial Natural Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia. This archipelago is made up of three islands: Norte or Monteagudo, Del Medio or do Faro and Sur or San Martiño. The first two are joined by the sandbank of Playa de Rodas and a jetty. The Cíes Islands were declared a Natural Park in 1980 and included in the M-T National Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia created in 2002, together with the Island of Ons, the island of Sálvora and the island of Cortegada.
The Cíes Islands promise visitors an excellent excursion in a highly protected natural space to enjoy nature to the full. In this unspoilt paradise we can highlight Playa de Rodas, awarded the title of “The Best Beach in the World” by the renowned British newspaper “The Guardian”. It is worth coming and touring the islands, visiting the beaches and enjoying nature in one of the few Virgin Paradises left on earth.

The highlights of the Cíes Islands that you can’t miss!
The Cíes Islands are an archipelago made up of three islands: Faro Island (106.6 ha) and Monteagudo Island (179.5 ha) are joined by an old dam, and San Martiño Island (145.5 ha) is the southernmost; in addition to islets such as Penela dos Viños, Ruzo, Grabelos and Agoeiro. They protect the Vigo estuary from the inclement weather (rain and strong winds) of the ocean. Monteagudo Island is separated from Cape Home by a strait called Verga de Sotavento, and joined to Faro Island by an old dam and by Rodas Beach (1,300 m), which in turn is separated from San Martiño Island by a 500-metre strait known as Freu da Porta.
