POINT OF INTEREST
Faro do Peito
On the island of Monte Agudo stands the O Peito Lighthouse, built in 1904, which marks the northern entrance to the Vigo Estuary along with the Cabo Home Lighthouse on the Morrazo Peninsula. This lighthouse, located on the island's edge, indicates the coordinates for entering the estuary and is powered by solar panels, promoting sustainability in the protected environment of the Cíes Islands. Due to its proximity to seabird breeding grounds, access beyond the lighthouse is restricted, but the Peito Lighthouse Route leads you there. From its privileged vantage point, visitors can observe the ocean and the birds in their natural habitat, enjoying a nearly pristine environment.
